Chuckwalla Raceway

April 17, 2010

Chuckwalla Raceway is a new track, located about 60 miles east of of Indio, CA. This was my first day at this new track and is it an awesome track to ride. There are many elevation changes, sweeper turns and some with decreasing radius's and one banked turn. If you do not get the right line through the bank turn it is a bit rough at the apex. What I noticed is that about 4 feet in from the rumble strip at the apex it was smoother. Also when you ride this track, you will notice that it's straights are not long and if you are on a liter bike, you can cover them very quickly. I hardly ever got out of 3rd gear.

In my opinion this track is more physically demanding than Auto Club Speedway which I have ridden more.

One more thing about this track, as I mentioned it is on the desert. So there is no grass anywhere around the track and if you screw up and leave the track you are going to hit soft dirt/sand. As you know, sport bikes do not like or handle well dirt very well.

But over all, I give this track a thumbs up and here are a few pictures of me on the track:

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you at the track.
