In 2003 when I decided to get another sport bike, I had to have one that fit. So I started looking. As the result of my search I bought a brand new 2003 GSXR 1000. The bike fit very well and power was great. This is how she looked new.

Once the bike was almost broke in I added a full Arata exhaust system, Power Commander and K&N air filter. This really made the bike work very well while still keeping a very good power range.
In October of 2005 I decided to start racing again, which meant I needed to do some more upgrades. One day I was doing a track day with my friend Del, who was offered a full race fairing for his 03 GSXR 1000, but he wanted to race his Ducati. So he offered me the race fairing and I bought it. That is when I met my new friend John Chen. He is a really good rider/racer and is a track instructor with Fastrack Riders. Here is the race fairing setup he sold me. It included the gas tank, front fender, upper and lower fairings, windscreens and tail section (bike was not included).

So I went to work on the fairing, cleaning off all the stickers and then sanding all the fairing pieces to get it ready for primer. Also there were a few blemishes and holes I had to fiber glass too. Also while I was doing the fiber glass, I filled in the nose piece to fit the bottom of the wind screen better.
With all the fiberglass work and sanding done, I primered and painted the fairings. While I did the fairings, Racetech re-valved the front suspension and I ordered a new Penske rear shock from Cogent Dynamics to handle the rear. I have also added a billet clutch basket, because in doing a little investigative work, I found that they can break.
In my first race I still had the stock damper on the front. I do not recommend the stock damper, because twice I had some good head shake at 140MPH. So I have now installed my new GPR steering damper purchased from Atomic Super Bikes. This is what my GSXR looks like now.

Even though this is a 2003, she is still very fast and a lot of fun to ride. I may not ever maximize the full potential of her, but I have a lot of fun trying my best.
See you at the track!
